I use the pink Sunsilk leave-in treatment. It's called Hydra TLC 24/7 creme. It smells good and leaves your hair soft and easy to comb through. It works great on my long hair. My step-daughters (who are also pre-teens) always use it on their hair too.

We have a 9 year old daughter with the same problem. When she washes her hair, she does it at night since she is NOT a morning person (but, neither am I!). We started braiding her hair in one long braid before she went to bed regardless if she had washed it or not. That helped a lot for morning brushing. But, she developed tons of knots during the day and hair-brushing was quite the ordeal. Recently I saw a hair care product made by Aussie called Knot Forgotten Detangler. It is amazing! She has used it the last 3 hair washes and hair brushing has been quick afterwards as well as in the morning and the next night when she doesn't wash her hair but we still braid it for her. I think we have a winner with the Knot Forgotten combined with the nightly hair-braiding. It's been several weeks since I last thought she needs to get this hair cut short! She wants to donate her hair to Locks of Love, so I've been trying to be patient with the knots.

Do you mean knots after shampooing, or just in the course of the day? A good conditioner might help either way. One thing that works really well for after-shampoo tangles is John Frieda's Spotlight. It's a balm-type product in a tube you can find at any drugstore. A small drop takes out tangles like magic, my daughters use it on their long hair. You can also use it on dry hair.

I know Johnson & Johnson has a detangler conditioner. Try combing the conditioner through starting from the bottom.
Other recommendation: Pantene! My mom used that on my hair when I was growing up. I have thick, but very fine hair. My hair still gets tangled and I just try to run a brush through it a couple of times a day. Also, if it's really tangled, I will brush it before I get in the shower/bath. It makes it easier to get a comb through with conditioner in it.
Good Luck! : )

I've never needed to braid/tie my hair when i go to bed coz ur hair needs to "breathe" ,plus i sleep better when there isnt anythin that wud press against my face when i twist n turn, perhaps its best u look around for another shampoo & conditioner for ur 11yr old . U might need to "experiment" a few brands b4 finding the perfect one that works for her hair ( assuming its a daughter )..U cud try Pantene,it works wonders for me.Also check their leave on conditioner which is in a greenish bottle. It makes the hair tangle free, just need to apply it on towel dried hair and voila! she wudnt even have tangled hair even if she sticks her head outta a window in a high speed car..lol..Good Luck looking!

No-More-Tangles. It works on both dry and wet hair. Spray it on, comb out the tangles.
Then, braid the hair for the night to reduce morning tangles.

any spray-on hair conditioner or detangler (No-More Knots). also you can try braiding your hair at night. try loose braids so that you won't feel uncomfortable sleeping.
