I would apreciate any help and if anyone can provide an image of how a component video acces point ( not the cable but where I plug it in) looks like I'd be very grateful.

Your component cable has 3 connectors on each end. The GREEN one is marked " Y ", so the green one goes there( for Luminance/Video), the red on the red hole & the blue on the blue hole(connection). A cable which has three male connectors on each end, red, white & yellow is a " composite cable for VCR or regular DVD. But even some of them want component now, but eventually the component ones are being phased out in favor of HDMI or DVI hook ups. On my TV ( a Sony LCD) the component hook up for HDTV is on one end of the TV rather than the back.

confirm you connect in basic terms one set of cables out of the DVD participant - the two ingredient or composite, no longer the two. on the television, you should alter the "source" or "enter" connect the cables wisely.
