Well! I like dealing with situations like this with humor...two ideas...when he asks again say..
"Why? Are you interested?" And give a quirky smile, then read his facial expressions to find your answer..
Or!
"Why? Do you want her to hook up with someone you know?"
See, the thing with guys is, they don't realize women pick up on stuff like this. We store away everything a guy says and keep it for later use. We tally how many times something has been pointed out, asked or done to us and so we've adapted to read men like open books.
Sorry guys...you are easy to read.. :) I think that's what drives us nuts, because we WANT you to be more complex and ya just aren't!
Good luck with whichever way you go on this!

I'd tell him she used to have a boyfriend but she dumped him because he kept asking her if another girl had a boyfriend and has anyone ever seen this other girl with another guy. She called her ex b/f a really really bad name and from what I hear, he was traumatized.

You could do one of two things...the first would be to just admit that you have no idea and then drop it..don't make a big deal of it or it will make him think about her moer...the second thing is to actually talk to the girl and ask her in polite conversation if she has a boyfriend.

Ask why he wants to know. Maybe he has a friend who he wants to set up (looking on the bright side). Or, maybe he is interested in her, in which case, he will stammer out some lame excuse as to why he keeps asking the question.

Ask him "Why do you want to know?" If the answer isn't something that makes sense to you or doesn't sound like the truth I would start looking for another boyfriend.
There is no written rule that states you have to put up with this behavior if it bothers you.
Never allow someone to be your priority while allowing yourself to be their option.

He probably thinks she may be Gay, not that its any of his business. But if he's that interested, next time you and he are together and see her , grab his hand and walk up to her and say " excuse me , my boyfriend was wondering if you were seeing anyone or not ? " then you can make some lame excuse about knowing someone she may be interested in blah blah...bet he wets his pants LOL

He might just be looking into itplaying matchmaker for a friend of his. of course then again, miscommunications happen and he might not even consider your relationship to be that serious. Does he introduce you as his girlfriend when talking to other people, or just by your name alone?

I would think that he was interested in her. But I would just have to wait and see what he does, because I wouldnt want to jump to conclusions, because a relationship is based on trust, and thats what you should have.

i'd ask him straight why he was interested, and if he doesn't come up with a satisfying answer you gotta tell him (in a rational, im-not-a-jealous-girlfriend way) that it's quite insensitive of him and makes you feel a little uncomfortable.

maybe hes just checking her out for a friend... you know scoping her oput to make it a little easier on him. since he has you, its easier and less awkward for him to ask because hes not actually interested. if oyu want to know for sure next time he mentions it, say, "why do you ask?"
