Well, what's so surprising about it?. Bush is just another politician. All politicians are like that. They flip-flop when it suits them. I never saw any politician who did not do that, in dealing with one issue or another throughout his entire career.

But in fairness to Bush, this can be an indication that he is now willing to pursue diplomacy. I do not take it as a sign of weakness on his part. Military solutions are not always the answer to disagreements between nations. I hope that he will be successful in this aspect. This might just be the answer we're waiting for to finally end the unnecessary bloodshed in Iraq. This might also change the rest of the world's negative perception of the U.S..

Now, I just have to shake my head in pity to those White House spokesmen who face the press to answer blunt questions and defend the policies of the White House to the public(Tony Snow, et al). They will surely look like fools in front of the TV cameras in what they have to say regarding this sudden change of policy. Oh well, it's their job to dance with the music.

Barring some scandalous revelation, the nomination will bypass by. Republicans who oppose it extremely is going to likely be taking photos themselves interior the foot, yet I think of a few will gain this besides. That being reported, there's no cosmic regulation which states that Republicans could approve of each and every thing carried out by a Republican president. Justice Souter grow to be appointed by Bush Sr. The choose became out to be greater liberal than estimated, and this displeased the conservatives. I see no longer something incorrect or inconsistent in that.

That is the problem with being an idealogue, painting yourself into corners all the time gets you wet and sticky.

If you just hold to the "all options are on the table" mantra, you wont get into this type of situation.
