I got it about 8 months ago and it often bleeds and lets some puss out. Today I woke up and the piercing almost didnt exist! What I mean by this is the skin between the top ball (the one that you screw in) and the bottom ball was as thin as 5 sheets of paper. I do not know how this happened, it looks like the ring is about to fall out. I don't want to take it out because I read that closing it up before it heals is not good because the puss and blood remains in the whole forever. Does anyone know what's wrong?

First of all, it depends on what color the puss is. if it is white to yellow your peircing is infected. If it is clear to white it is not and this is normal. HOwever, because the skin is thinning, it seems as though your skin is rejecting the peircing. Skin does this when an object is place into it that is not supposed to be there, ie. metal. There is another chance that you are allergic to the metal taht was put in to your body. I am allergic to nickel and this happened to me the first time i peirced my bellybutton. Go back to the place where they peirced your bellybutton and have them check it out. If it is rejecting you ahve to take it out as soon as possible or you get really bad scar tissue.

Sounds like your piercing is rejecting if the skin is 'thin as paper'. This was probably not an overnight occurrence, but it may have been something you just realized was that bad.

In all honesty the only time you should not take out a piercing is if its infected and this doesn't sound infected at all to me. Blood and puss are normal and common occurrences with rejecting piercings. And puss does NOT mean its an infection people! All piercings have discharge and its only an issue if that discharge is greenish or chunky!

The rejection could have happened for a number of reasons: the person didn't pierce it correctly, poor quality/sized jewelry, poor aftercare, your anatomy wasn't well suited for it...

Go see a piercer asap. Chances are you'll have to take the jewelry out before it rips right out and keep the area clean for the next 3-4 weeks (treat it the way you did when you first got it though there is no jewelry in it now). If you want to get it re-pierced later, you'll want to wait at least 6 months to ensure full and proper healing in the area. Good luck to you.

well it sounds like you have an infection and this web page could help"http://www.lycos.com/info/belly-button.html"

A belly button piercing is difficult to heal for many reasons. Clothing and sweat can irritate your belly button piercing. Swimming in poorly chlorinated waters can cause infection. Because a navel piercing can take 6 months to a year to heal it is an easy target for re-infection if not properly cared for.

My advice is to see a docter.

ohh yeah one question did you do it your self?
if so dont do it again!!

It sounds like your body is just pushing it out,it happens sometimes. If you wear tight pants it can cause that as well. When your pants are pushing in on your belly even lower tan the piercing it creates a pressure that pushes the ring out.

For Heaven's sake, lady ... part of your body is going septic on you. You need to go to the doctor before the infection gets further into you; quit worrying about the cosmetic effects and get this healed up! It sounds very much as if the place where you got it done didn't take proper asepsis precautions, do don't go back there - they might make it worse.

It sounds like it's infected. Buy some witch hazel and apply with a cotton ball several times each day. If it doesn't get better in a few days, you probably will need to call your doctor.
