My cat is about 2 weeks away from having kittens and seems very restless. Of course, I'm going to ask the vet about labor and nesting signs, but I've never had a pet have babies before, so I'm wondering about people's personal experiences. Do cats nest? Can I help her by setting up a box with some blankets in it? Do they want a quiet place or does it matter? Any advice you can share would be great!

Set up a box that is about 2 feet by 3 feet, or a box that is comfy, secure, yet roomy. i only added towels, cause i knew it would be messy anyway. i set it up in a corner in my house where it would stay warm.... this is going to be an amazing experience for you! the best part was when my kittens started walking for the first time! keep us updated! oh also keep the food and water and litter bin next to the box on the outside.
ps--- we tipped the box on its side, so it was in a house with a really big door

You can set up a box but that does not guarantee she will have them in there. She will go where she wants. If you have other cats, keep them away and make sure she is eating kitten food now and until she weans the new kittens for the extra protein and fat.

I have a cat that is also due in about 2 weeks (per the vet I saw yesterday)

If she is going interior the field then she would be able to extra effective than in all probability have the kittens in there. My cats have had 3 litters of kittens, regrettably, i wasnt there for 2 of them. however the 0.33, my cat replace into very fussy interior the morning, then interior the afternoon she merely went into the field and started out to furnish start. they in many circumstances have one each a million/2 hour, yet could have one lots later. in case you elect any advice, merely touch me and that i visit help everywhere i'm able to. i might additionally recommend buying the e book RSPCA finished Cat Care.

When my cats have kittens we set out an old suitcase and put blankets in it. Then we set food inside and help whichever cat is having kittens feel right at home. Then after she has her kittens they stay in the suitcase untill they're old enough to be away from the mother for a little bit.
Good luck with your new kittens!

Yes, they want a quiet place where they feel safe. A box with some old towels in a quiet place - maybe a bedroom closet or something - is perfect.

Do not do anything. Even if you fix a special place in a quiet room, it has been my experince that they will have the kittens wherever they want anyway.
