Is it really a good idea to name your group after a series of bloody holy wars?

First off, it's catchy and it's easy for someone to remember. Secondly, the defintion of crusade goes beyond the actual crusades. It is a military term meaning an expedition. Also, it's a term for leading an entergetic group centered around a cause, such as a religious or political cause. The latter is more accurate when talking about the religious group. Christians are called by the great commission to preach the gospel. That's the idea of it being a crusade.

Why not Christians on Campus? Campus for Christ? Etc., etc.

I don't like the associations with that word "crusade," either. Especially when paired with the original context.
