MY 13 YEAR OLD LABRADOR HAS ALWAYS BEEN TERRIFIED OF FIREWORKS BUT SINCE GUY FAWKES NIGHT AND DUVALI LAST YEAR HE SEEMS VERY NERVOUS OF NOISE - MOBILE PHONES, TV ETC. HE'S EXTREMELY UNSETTLED AND WHERE AS HE USED TO SLEEP ALL DAY HE NOW WANTS TO EITHER GO FOR WALKS ALL THE TIME OR WALK ROUND THE GARDEN ALL DAY WHATEVER THE WEATHER. HE WON'T SIT DOWN UNTIL HE'S EXHAUSTED AND CONTINUALLY PACES AROUND PANTING. HIS HIND LEGS ARE WEAK ALREADY AND I'M CONCERNED FOR HIS HEALTH AS HE'S NERVOUS AND UNSETTLED ALL THE TIME. I THINK THE FIREWORKS HAVE SHOT HIS NERVES TO PIECES. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS ABOUT WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS OR ANYTHING I COULD GIVE HIM TO CALM HIM DOWN WOULD BE GRATEFULLY RECEIVED.

I suggest seeing a vet about this, since it has been going on for awhile. They may pescribe a sedative for him to calm him down

I take it you have an american lab or a field trial dog. High energy and somwhat hyper. They dont handel loud noises well. Its not normal for a lab to get that shook up over sound. I would consider taking him to the vet he may have an inner ear problem.
There are some mild tranquilizers avalable you can give him but they are not ment for long term use. Let the vet prescribe something it will be cheeper and easier in the long run. Especilly with an old man like him.

It's all the fault of those bloody fireworks the pets just get so frightened,my dog has the same problem and this year I am going to have to put him in kennels away in the country where he won't be subject to them I could never put him through that again. Anyway back to your wee pet just give him loads of love and reassurance It worked for mine best of luck to you both
