Some slang, some from the Bible. Such as, "God D**n you" , and "Jesus Christ", some add almighty to that. Taking the Lords name in vain. But did you know that the number one curse word is not a swear word at all?

There's something called linquistic drift. Its why we have things like slang language. I imagine the swear words were words that originally were simply slang and they gradually changes into something that took on new meaning.

The Anglo-Saxons gave us most of the English ones including all the various terms for female genitalia and they didn't regard them as rude in the way we do as they routinely employed them in everyday conversation.
