ok so they say that they get popl into cults by using brainwashing, mind control, and forms of blackmail, lying, and through force. But just by reading a few books on cults, it's easy to tell that they usally use some kind of strange backwards logic to make ppl think that what they are doing is right, or there in it for the money, or there satanic ppl and want to be part of that kind of cult.

Going on to the whole demonology topic, its seems as if there isn't really and satanic cult on every street corner, lke the media wants us to belive. It's more like there are a few twisted ppl in the world, and there always will be. Its more likely that the demon worship era is over, and we should be safe for at least a generation.

Going back to the cult deal, and my main question. Why is it that there are so many ppl who say there in a cult. And then there the whole chatholic churh. i belive in God, yet i still see how stupid they are. Anyway i have run out of room, so just anwer to what I have

I usually think of a cult as a new belief started by one person. They appeal to people who are lost, not just spiritually but sometimes socially. The new belief works like a gang. People are attracted to a new idea, makes them feel like they are part of something special, like a family. I consider scientology and islam to be cults. They were nothing without their one founder. They claim to have the "right" way. They offer a new version of an old standard. From what I understand, scientology never asks for money at first, but if you want to progress through the belief, then you are in to spend thousands of dollars. I have also heard that islam has been known to "recruit" people through bribes. They offer money to people who are in debt and become good Muslims. islam shows a watered down version of their beliefs to attract people, mostly about love and peace, which already exists in The Holy Bible. Then you are trapped and learn the truth about the violence, oppression and jihad, etc. That's not how God works.

May God Bless you.

What is a cult?

Generally, it is a group that is unorthodox, esoteric, and has a devotion to a person, object, or a set of new ideas.

-New Teaching - has a new theology and doctrine.
-Only True Teaching - often considers traditional religious systems to be apostate and it alone possess the complete truth.
-Strong Leadership - often an individual or small but powerful leadership group holds control of the group’s teachings and practices.
-Asset Acquirement - often requires tithing and/or property transfer to the religious system.
-Isolationist - to facilitate control over the members physically, intellectually, financially, and emotionally.
-Controlling - exercises control over the members. Sometimes this is through fear, threatening lose of salvation if you leave the group. Sometimes through indoctrination.
-Indoctrination - possesses methods to reinforce the cult’s beliefs and standards where opposing views are ridiculed and often misrepresented.
-Apocalyptic - to give the members a future focus and philosophical purpose in avoiding the apocalypse or being delivered through it.
-Experience - various practices including meditation, repetition of words and/or phrases, and ‘spiritual’ enlightenment with God are used as confirmation of their truth.
-Depravation - sleep and food deprivation which weakens the will of the subject.

This is uncommon, though practiced by more severe cults.

-Persecution - predictions of being persecuted and often combined with claiming any opposing views demonstrated against them as a form of persecution.

Many have a non-verifiable belief systems. For example, they would teach something that cannot be verified. A space ship behind Hale-Bop comet Or, that God, an alien, or angel appeared to the leader and gave him a revelation. The members are seeded angels from another world, etc. Often, the philosophy makes sense only if you adopt the full set of values and definitions that it teaches. With this kind of belief, truth becomes unverifiable, internalized, and easily manipulated through the philosophical systems of its inventor.

-The Leader of a Cult
Often charismatic who is considered very special for varying reasons: The leader has received special revelation from God. The leader claims to be the incarnation of a deity, angel, or special messenger. The leader claims to be appointed by God for a mission The leader claims to have special abilities The leader is often above reproach and is not to be denied or contradicted.

-Cult ethos. Usually seek to do good works, otherwise no one would join them. They are usually moral and possess a good standard of ethical teaching. Many times the Bible is used or additional "scriptures" are penned. The Bible, when used, is always distorted with private interpretations. Many Cults recruit Jesus as one of their own and redefine him accordingly.

-Cult groups vary greatly.
From the ascetic to the promiscuous.
From esoteric knowledge to very simple teachings.
From the rich and power to the poor and weak.

Hope this helps.

Most people that belong to a group. Are under mind control and these person become part of a group due to lack or respect or for themselves or they are weak and need a leader of some sort.Wheter it is a cult or a church I could not be part of something when others person press their own values on another.I think the human body is quite capabale of thinking in general. In example there is a christian church in my area I would label a cult. The people that attend are crazy, rude,do meth, and act extremely like something is wrong and hide behind"god and church" talk about a rip-

yes I wanted to add more...anywhos people who attend places need to believe in themselves above all.I have 1 mom and 1 dad not 20 other fools that need to tell me how and when.Everybody needs a shoulder to cry on that is true but when it involves ...things of this sort it is way off and then you have certain members of the community wanting to retaliate in some form(based on lies).IIn a nut shell dont do it-expand your horizons and dont do it.

I think most cults are actually based on peoples basic belief in god and that is what draws them in in the first place - I think that demonology is quite rare. If you have a basic belief in god and are maybe needy or vulnerable that is when the cult gets you.

Cults suck do not get in one. catholics usually worship saints so for me its like saying/ i say this stick is john something and people worship it- so they will worship anything, that is why they are dumb enough to join a cult. or people usually want to be part of something that other people are not part of. Like joining a gang for example they have some sort of power. The main reason for you not to get in one because those people are dush bags that make up stories.

well the church is different from the cult b/c cults seem to separate themselves more. and its not all about devil worship some of it is just their way of life, some of their lifestyles are similar to the amish. if you choose to leave a cult, you are pretty much disowned and condemned but if you choose to leave the church, (its not advised) but the church wont condemn you, i would hope the church would PRAY for you.
