Hi Everyone.

I am potty training my 3 year old daughter. Yes I know she's old!!! ;) Anyway, she is making absolutely great strides in the last couple of days but I don't know how to help her pee all at once. She will pee just a little for like an hour if I let her sit there that long. She of course doesn't want to sit on there because she doesn't want to be there forever. When I put her on this morning I ran water and also talked to her about relaxing the muscles in her privates and pushing with the muscles in her tummy. I think it helped a bit because she peed a lot more but does anyone have better words to use or a better way to help her get it all out quicker so she can go on with her day?

Have her grab the sides of her potty and try to push her bottom down as hard as she can and tink about letting the pee out. Sometimes they just need a really concrete picture of what to do. Don't forget to tell her that the more she can squeeze out now, the less she has to sit and wait. If she is using a little potty, have a pee race with her, you and she start peeing at the same time and see if she can beat you. If she is still having problems after a week or so, call the doctor and make sure she doesn't have an especially small urethra or some other weirdness that makes it hard for her.

I don't think you can make your child pee faster. I would suggest you leave her in there and let her settle it on her own. She will grow out of this. When she gets to school she wont want to be on the pot while all her friends are playing. Just make sure she isn't complaining of any pain or stinging during urination...that could mean a bladder infection.....and make sure she is getting plenty of fluids.
