in andhrapradesh(india) we allways face power shortage. our formars fully depend on govt' for the electricity is there any way that they can generate power to irrigate theire crops with own generation of electricity. the generater should be simple, can be made localyy. the fuel may be water, air, or solar rays . it should give full power to wet at least one hector a day.
and the farmers need not depend on govt power for irrigation

A simple combustion generator should work:
attach a petrol engine to a dynamo, and this will output electricity.

The type of equipment you need is on the market. Gas or diesel other kind is wind mill from Holland, Solar panels can recharge a group of batteries and batteries can run the pump for irrigation but it will be a huge system.

Best answer is use the existing system with state of the art controls to take advantage of non peak hour rates and irrigate at non peak hours that way it will be less expensive.

To have reliability you need to test the newly manufactured system and development can take years.

Stay with commercial components that are readily available and make the system in few days that can go to work right away.
