This varies not only by institution but by State, Federal, custody level of the offender within the institution and the custody level of the prison itself. Most prisons have more than one level of custody and therefore more than one level of management. Minimum custody level facilities days go somewhat like this: Wake up 6am, formal count (standing in your cell or room with your badge displayed for identification), meals are served by cellhouse or by a run in a cell house as called to the meal by the dinning room officers. Showers are taken either before or after meals to prepare for work, school, or yard time. 11:30am returned to their cell for another formal count. Then called for
lunch. Return to work, school etc. 4pm return to cell house for Formal count. 5pm Dinner . 7pm informal freeze count (counted where you are stay there until count clears) 8pm Formal count. 10pm return to cells/rooms formal count in for the night. Counts continue through the night using flashlights to see flesh and breathing. Day begins again at 6am.
