a permanent record of what?

a fossil record? yes.
electronic data? yes and no.

Records that are called Permanent Records do exist, while you are in school, and probably about 5 yrs after you graduate. That is when the records were destroyed when I worked at the HIgh School. I wouldn't consider them TRULY permanent!
