Very Little, but how are they going to prove that the bones are from Jesus, do "they" have DNA from Jesus that we don't know about....

I find it funny that so many people here say it wouldn't affect them at all. How arrogant. The question isn't weather the bones are real or not, it is "IF they... were real, how would (it) affect your faith?" To say that you would drink, go back to work, not worry or fret only shows that you do not fully grasp the magnitude of this scenario. Granted, I think they are not his bones, a co-incidence maybe, maybe a hoax ... I don't know. However, if they were real that would change the religious foundation we all as Christians stand on. That would mean Jesus was not Resurrected, did not overcome death, was only a mortal and not the Son of God. Pretty heavy stuff here. I would rather people be very adamant about this and fight against it they say they don't care. This story is stealing away the faith of many believers whose testimonies are weak. We MUST care, we MUST disagree, we MUST expose them for what they really are. It's time to take a stand. It's time to be bold.

I, personally would be excited. I have long believed that Jesus would have been married, as was the Jewish custom, and why not father a child? Yes, Muslims Jesus WAS a mortal for a time, but he was resurrected and put on the immortal. Who says that in order to be resurrected we need to use these same mortal bones? What about the people who are cremated or die at sea? Their bodies disintigrate and are lost to the four winds. I don't think that they can positively proove that the bones do belong to Jesus...unless he wants to come and verify, but what a great idea that he did experience all that we experience...marriage, family, carreer. It makes me believe more, that he understands and appreciates all that I go through.

Well, it's hard to think of it that way, because it's impossible that they are the bones of Jesus...
Two different scenarios have occurred to me:
1. Being as how important Jesus is and was...that there is no way he'd have been jammed in a family tomb with everyone else. Even if he wasn't the son of God (and I think he was) historically he was a great man and therefore would have been buried in a special way...probably not just like a regular guy.
2. If he wasn't the son of God but his disciples and followers all wanted to keep up the illusion that he was, they sure wouldn't have buried him with his name on the box in a family tomb with everyone else. If they were to keep up the great hoax that he had been raised from the dead, they would have hidden his bones...not labeled them.
That said, let me reiterate, that I do believe he is the Son of God, resurrected from the dead to save all sinners.

Paul already answered this question 1950 years ago, in 1 Corinthians 15
To summarize: (greatly abbreviated, but it gives the gist)
"If Christ be not risen, then our faith is in vain, and we among all people are to be most pitied... we are still in our sin... and we may as well eat drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die..."
In other words, if Christ just died, and did not rise again, Christianity is a lie. There is no holy, just and merciful God who has provided mercy and comfort to people who are in rebellion.
This is why Paul in the first part of this chapter, takes great pains to note that the Old Testament predicts the sacrifice and ressurrection, and names specific people, as well as a group of 500 or so who Jesus appeared to AFTER his crucifixion.
He in essence says "don't take my word for it, here they are, ask them"...
The resurrection is why a group of defeated, demoralized people in 3 days went from being totally crused to having the hope and courage to proclaim the truth and 11 of the 12 to be put to death for doing so, and John of Patmos to spend his life in prison.
The bone boxes found are the "shocking" equivalent of finding a cemetary in the US 100 years, at a midsized city that has "John married to Susan and their son Tim"... This is hack drivel, and James Cameron would do much better to focus on making his mediochre, self aggrandizing fiction... oh wait, that's what he is doing again...
The "sources" they quote )Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of Peter... were written between 100-200 years AFTER the epistles and the canonical gospels were... Why people think that makes them more reliable is truly stunning...

If they found the remains of Jesus' bones and were able to prove conclusively that they belonged to Jesus (ha, good luck! c'mon, what would you compare them to?), then I would have to seriously consider what importance the bodily resurrection of Jesus has on his divinity. Hmmmm, might be a good question to ask, anyway.
How would it affect my faith? Probably not much. For me, faith isn't based on proof but the REASON behind the belief.

It is true, Jesus was just a regular man, gifted with holy spirit than any other living beings on earth and that is the only reason we live today with brotherhood, peace and harmony. It is same with other religious personals, they were all buried with plenty of secrets.
Only Christianity gives freedom to investigate abut religion and disclose archaeologists opinions, hence Christianity is very vulnerable for other religions, journalists, comedians to compare and joke about. That is one of the reason, people have faith in Jesus who thought us to forgive our enemies and live respecting others.
Do not forget how muslims roared and terrorized all over the world and threaten western influences on their path, when a cartoonist in Denmark, drew pictures of muslim faith, Mohammed

The bones are fake. The Bible gives evidence of Jesus' resurrection in both SPIRIT and FLESH:
Matt 28:9 And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him.
Luke 24:36 And while they were telling these things, He Himself stood in their midst. 37 But they were startled and frightened and thought that they were seeing a spirit. 38 And He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 "See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have." 40 [And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.] 41 And while they still could not believe [it] for joy and were marveling, He said to them, "Have you anything here to eat?" 42 And they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish; 43 and He took it and ate [it] before them.
Obviously, no matter what, it comes down to faith and what you believe. In order to believe the above scripture, you must believe in the Bible and that it is the word of God. Through prayer and meditating on the Word of God, I have increased my faith. Why would bones be left behind if Jesus walked the earth after His resurrection as flesh? He ascended the same way.

I don't know how they could confirm that they are really his bones. They are not his bones, so they won't be able to prove it anymore than they have been able to prove evolution and the big bang theory- those are both still just theory's and so is this bone discovery.
There are cultures who name their children Jesus, how do we know that it is not somebody else with the same name? Besides where would they get DNA to prove it? it is not like they can look up his dental records or something.

It would not affect my faith at all. Even though I am not a religious person, I still beleive that Jesus existed. It would shake the faith of alot of Christians, actually, because then they would begin to question whether he really ascended or not.

it wouldn't affect my faith at all. (let's bear in mind that Jesus was a very common name for the time) the thing about christianity is that it is a religion based on faith. if you're faith is non-existent or questionable, then this documentary would have you questioning the entire world and religion as you know it. i believe that *maybe* His mortal body didn't ascend to the heavens, but my faith tells me that His spirit most certainly did.
