You can alternate them every three hours for high fevers. However, if the childs fever goes away and has not come back within three hours, wait four before giving a dose of the other medicine. Try to arrange it so you're giving Motrin at night because it helps lower fever better than Tylenol and usually lasts longer so you'll get a little more sleep :) Hope everything gets better.

I have always used the 3 1/2-4 hour rule. I started with Tylenol and then 3 1/2-4 hours later Motrin and back and forth until the high fever broke.

RE:
What is the rotation of tylenol and motrin again? with fevers?
I have a call in to the doctor because i forgot..
I believe they told us every three hours with a rotation of tylenol and motrin.
Does anyone else have experience with this?

for sure call the doctor, but I always do it in rotation of 4 hours. Since you are supposed to give tylenol every 8 hours and motrin every 8 hours. I give Motrin ( or IB profin) and then 4 hours later tylenol, then four hours later it is time for Motrin again. Good luck.

The doctors told me follow the every 4 hour routine. Give tylenol, then 4 hours later give Motrin. It works I have 3 children and have used it on all of them at one time or another.

motrin every 6-8 hours and tylenol every 4-6 hours if you give it to closely or too often it soon wont have any effect on the child and then you'll have to ask the doc for something stronger so motrin every 6-8 hours and tylenol every 4-6 hours
