It's possible; I'm like skinned & my son's father is medium complexion & my son is darker than him; he's the same complexion as my father.
So it's definetly a gene thing.

Yes, Yes, Yes. Many African American families have Caucasian genes running in their veins and vice versa, due to the whole slavery history. So yes, Dark African Americans can have a light baby, and Light Caucasians can have a dark as in Afro baby. But the chances are not as high as many people want to believe. Come to grips with it, either she cheated, or the paternity center did not clean their testubes properly. It happened last year by the way.

possible...well perhaps not TOTALLY light-skin...but about three genes control this...with the dominant Gene "a" conding for Melanin....

If all four of the baby's grandparents are dark skin african-americans...then its HIGHLY unlikely....unless there's a mutation (for example: albinism)

Yes! Genetic combinations are a real crap-shoot! Any ancestor of either parent could contribute a gene for that trait! :-)=

I believe so.....especially if there are light skinned people in your family's. It's a gene thing.

i've heard it takes a while for the pigmentation to fully develop, so if that's true, then the baby will get darker as it gets a little older (i'm assuming a new infant?)
