I never threw away a diaper in anyone's garbage when my sons were babies my son's are in their 30's now., I carried a plastic bag in my diaper bag and took the soiled diaper home with me. Does any one else think young women today are rude to throw their baby's dirty diaper is someones garbage?

I alwayy took my dirty diapers home with me. I think that its gross to leave a poopy diaper in someone elses garbage.

My wife and I use a Diaper Duck(can be found at Target), which has a plastic bag to put the diaper in and then you can tie it shut. It has a slight scent to the bag, so it helps cover up any odors. I always ask before I put a diaper in someone's garbage as that is just a courtesy that I would expect at my house too. I personally find it rude if someone says "No" to putting the diaper in their garbage, so what, I have to keep it in the diaper bag with the toys and clean clothes?

I don't necessarily carry around a plastic bag. If it's a potty diaper, I ask if I can put it in the trash or if there's somewhere else I should put it. If it's poopy, I put it outside or in the outside garbage.
I don't think they necessarily need to carry around a bag, but just be considerate and aske the person who's house they are at what they'd like done with the diaper. If they don't want it in their trash, I'm sure they have a bag from target the mom can use or something.

That's funny - I've always kept a few bags in the diaper bag, not only for that reason, but it is the main one. I would take the wrapped diaper home only if I absolutely had to, but usually people don't mind if you use their garbage, it's only polite to try to contain the smell with the plastic bag!

I think it is rude to just throw a poop-filled diaper in someone else's trash. A plastic bag or ziplock bag can contain the smell, and like other posters suggested if you don't have one, have the decency to ask the owner of the house what they would like you to do. They may have a bag, or may suggest you throw it in their outside garbage.

I think the plastic bag idea is good so the other garbage can doesn't stink, but I think carrying it home is a bit much. I always used plastic bags to throw away public changes.

I work for pediatricians, and you would be shocked to know where I've found dirty diapers. If they made into the trash I would be a little grossed out if it stunk up the entire office, but finding it under a chair in waiting room is WAY worse! (Or outside in the parking lot... etc.)

Where I live diapers go in the compost which is picked up by the city. I just place it in there. Personally I don't see what the big deal is unless the diaper is particularly smelly. Mind you I breastfeed so my babies diapers really don't smell.
Also what a waste to wrap each diaper in plastic. Sheesh.

I think that is a very good idea. And if you happen not to have one, ask the person who you are visiting for one and throw in their outside garbage. It is just common courtesy and a good habit to get into to.

i think its ok...as long as you ask first...the garbage bag idea is a good one...that could be used before putting it in the actual garbage can
