Yes, since human life begins at conception.

I am Catholic, so I do not believe in abortion. However, having said that, God gave us free will and I do not believe that He wanted us to dictate eachother, but rather teach eachother and not judge what others do with their gift of free will.
I am also an ultrasound tech. and watch unborn babies all day. I can tell you they are as human as you and I. I have seen a fetus grab an amniocentesis needle, smile, grimace and increase movement when higher frequencies of ultrasound are used. They can move at 8 weeks! They look like dancing gummy bears! They practice breathing in the womb as early as 16 weeks. I know that these may be reflexes, but isn't that pretty much all newborn movements are?. If a "fetus" can be delivered at 29 weeks and survive, then how can it be only a "fetus" inside a belly and not a human???

Absolutely! It eats (that's why most pregnant women eat for 2, duh). Once it's lungs delope it breathes. And a baby was once a fetus, babies are perfectly alive right? So, how could a fetus not be a human being? Life begins with conception, that makes anything that is created at that moment by 2 people a human being. If you have an abortion, then you do kill a human. Abortion however, is not ALWAYS wrong. If you have sex willingly then it is wrong to abort a fetus. If you're raped, then it is only your baby by technicality. But there is always the option of letting someone adopt your baby. Why kill something that someone else is yearning to have but can't have on their own?

I believe that a fetus is human, as it has a heartbeat, however there is no right or wrong answer to this argument and i think that you could probably do best if you provide both arguments for abortion and against and then conclude with you own opinion thats how i have done these sorts of papers before and found that i have been given quite good marks, good luck

I agree with you 100%. I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant and my baby is a human to me. Abortion is murder and completely wrong. Especially when there are so many couples out there wanting to adopt. I feel the fetus is a human at the moment of conception. They have a heart beat and they breath (maybe not air) but they are completely human♥ Good luck on your paper.

Yes, a fetus is its own person. I go to Butte College in CA and I just did a paper on this, here are some key notes to back up your position:
The 20 hours, the child has developed its own DNA, every day the baby will double its body parts.
At four weeks, a babies heart develops, its spine is visable, and its face is starting to take shape.
At six weeks, its eyes develop.
At seven weeks, a babie's heart beats, fingers and toes develop.
At eight weeks, heart and brain work fine, major organs develop as well as bones and a sense of touch, it also begins to move on its own. At 8 wks, its now called a fetus, not an embreyo. Keep in mind, an embreyo at this stage can still be aborted.
At nine weeks, the babies ribcage is fully developed, its muscles are growing and its face is shaped correctly.
At ten weeks, the babies sex organs begin to take shape. It has an "indifferent penis", meaning that it could be a boy or girl. It also has developed and has a working circulatory system.
At thirteen weeks, the baby can make facial expressions, it has its own set of fingerprints and has full control of its own movements.
At sixteen weeks, The mother can finally feel it move. It can still be aborted in all states at this stage!
At twenty weeks (5 months) it can hear! It can still be aborted, although look up "Baby Amillia" (http://newsbusters.org/node/10954) She was born at 21 weeks and survived. She could have easily been aborted at this stage.
At twenty four weeks, the baby sleeps and wakes in cycles, has a definite sex, and can hear noises outside the womb.
At Twenty six weeks, the baby can taste. It can squeeze its hand electivly, and responds to light and sound. He can digest his own food, breathe and maintain its own body temperature independant of the mother. In some states, can still be aborted.
At twenty eight weeks, (seven months) it grows a layer of fat to cushion its exit through the birth canal. -in some states can still be aborted.
After this stage, the baby doesn't develop much, its mostly done with its changes, and can survive outside the mother with little technological help. The baby is focusing on adding weight until birth, and getting ready for the big day, its birth.
At 8.5 months, the baby seals its ribcage and eyelids to protect its birth.
Life is a miricle and should be treated as such, not something that should just be thrown away. I hope this helps. It was notes I took while watching a fetal development movie called, "From Conception to Birth" off the Discovery Channel. If you can, look it up and see if you can watch it online, because its very informative, and follows three pregnant women through different stages. I am glad you can see abortion is murder. In most cases, abortion stops a beating heart. Good Luck on your essay!

In my opinion yes a fetus is a human but legally a fetus is not viewed as a human until aorun 24 weeks (when they would be able to live outside the womb)
I don't believe abortion is right but I do believe in a woman's right to choose.

If you're writing a college paper, merely having an opinion won't get you good grades.

Go and do your research on the huge amount of legal, religious and social debate that's been done for many years on this topic.

Currently, different countries and states have different legislation about the exact number of weeks of gestation that an embryo/fetus is considered a viable human being.

I do not believe a fetus is a human being until there is a heart beat and the brain has electrical activity that will keep the heart beat going and can sense pain, feelings etc.

I believe life begins at the physical act of conception. I life is a life, and whatever argument is giving regarding choice, etc does not seem to consider that a living human being is being terminated. The "choice" part needs to come prior to conception.
