I sent them an e-mail last week about banning IP addresses instead of accounts, and I have noticed that some of the regulars arn't on here today. Kruger, Jim Darwin, ect. If they did, praise the lord.

hmmm... I think that can be fixed with one phone call to the nearest ISP! IN FACT, on the weekends, I work for an ISP! If any of the regulars here that I talk to (essentially both of the two that you just mentioned as well as a great number of others), I can make sure they can no longer be banned based upon this information...

That being said, there IS such a thing as an IP spoofer (masking an IP address with a fake IP)... I don't think banning IP addresses will work.

Sorry :)

Do you really think Yahoo! would really take the time to ban IP addresses? For a few people? It would be a waste of their time and a waste of resources to ban a few IP addresses of people that are simply causing a minority of users to be justifiably offended.

It may have violated their TOS but it violated no law. And, what's the point of banning an IP address when you can just refresh it in your router or DOS prompt.

for many human beings, IP addresses replace each time you hook up with the internet. DSL or Dial-Up consumers can acquire a clean IP handle by utilising bodily unplugging their modem from the telephone line, then reconnecting it and "Dialing In" to the community returned. those with Static IP addressing (frequently faculties, companies, and government homes) are no longer able to alter their IP handle.

Most everyone has dynamic IPs. It would take me 20 seconds to get a new one. And I would happily share that info of how to force it to change with anyone that cared to ask. Then what would happen is they would have banned the next guy who gets my old one. They aren't going to do that.

Eventually Yahoo will figure it out. Either that or they'll just take down Y!A like they did the discussion boards over at the news site. :-)

Since you aren't much of a thinker you don't like people who ask questions that make you think. I find that to be kind of sad and pathetic of you.
