Just the sex. It is sex without any commitment. It is a relatively new term. Although I am sure it existed in the olden days too. Just no one admitted to it.

I had a relationship with a women as a lover, boyfriend, and a FWB. I was in love with her the whole time, about 8 years. You can call the relationship whatever you want. The difference is the benefit which not all bf/gf have. The benefit put simply is sex.

A friend with benifits is nothing like a bf/gf. You have no ties. The whole point of it is to have sex but not be in a tied down relationship. A lot of people out there dont want or are afraid of relationships. SOme people prefer to stay single and enjoy their lives like that but we al need sex once in a while.

A friend with benefits is someone when you need sex or someone talk to. You can meet or hook up without having to go through all the feelings or actions of having a bf/gf. The other person knows that and does not mind it.

There is a difference. A BF/GF relationship might be a commitment or stead relationship while friends with benefits is an open relationship where you can do whatever you like and with anyone, you don't have to give an explanation to anyone.

Assuming that both parties enjoy what they do I see no harm in such an arrangement. It avoids the "dance" some do just to have this kind of arrangement. Saves a lot of time and energy for very busy people. They can remain friends and share mutual satisfaction without the hangups.

It's pretty much sex only...ya don't date, and may well not even spend time hanging out (depends on the situation).
If your idea of a girlfriend is someone you know fairly well, to hookup with for sex only, then you may want to redefine those relationships.
bf/gfs go out on dates...spend time hanging out...maybe travel together, do all kinds of activities together, and may or may not have sex (depends on the couple)...the focus of a bf/gf relationship is the relationship, not the sex...the focus of friends with benefits, is the sex, not a relationship.

sometimes people have deep feelings for one another but once you're in a relationship you're completely committed. sometimes this person you feel is more of a friend rather than a bf or gf but u still like each other and can't commit bcuz it'd feel awkward or ruin the relationship.

The point is to just have good sex and not have the entanglements of a dating relationship. It can be a very exciting thing if your FWB has the right attitude about it and doesnt start looking at it like its a romantic thing.

Good question. The problem is that it wont work if it is an ex- girlfriend but it might work with someone U just know off the side. Fun at first until U find out she is doing the same to your buddy or coworkers. GROSS !!!!!
