i need to know how to potty train my 1 year old shitz~u. And i am having a BIG problem with when he gets exicited he pees all over the carpet or me. How do I stop him from doing that?

This is excitement peeing ... plain and simple. Your dog is not the only one that does it, and it's not a breed characteristic. If it's only happening when he's excited, then it's not a housebreaking issue. When you come home and he's all happy to see you, don't pet him until he's calmed down. That's the only way you'll really get him to stop that behavior. It's perfectly normal, but it IS a pain!

I do wish people who own Shih Tzu would learn how to spell the breed name.
Anyway..I raise Shih Tzu, I breed Shih Tzu, I have eight of my own. They are the cutest things you ever run across, loving dogs. But when it comes to house breaking one they can be the most stubbornest dog on earth. Aren't they cute when they get excited. I really don't know what to tell you except maybe hope that he gets excited outside. Or maybe when you come home you can call him outdoors before picking him up.
