If you checked the IRS Where's My Refund page, what exactly did it say? It should of said that they are processing your refund...at least that much...and if it's been delayed there should of been an error code. You definitely need to call IRS back and talk to someone that does have some information since it's been over 5 weeks since you filed---THEY HAVE TO HAVE SOME KIND OF INFO BY NOW! Even if they are keeping your refund to apply against back child support or back taxes or whatever, they have to let you know that---you should of at least had a letter by now telling you why...IF that was even the case!

I would call back again because there are all kinds of people working at the IRS and some are definitely more helpful than others.

What code did you get when you checked the IRS website?

There have been alot of delays this year. I also filed around the same time and was suppose to get my refund on Jan 26th. I have since learned that 72,000 were delayed. ALOT of these people have already received their refunds. I have been told the remaining ones will be audited, but I don't know if that is true.
I was told that I had to wait until 3/19 before they could give me any additional information.

Good Luck!

Step 1: Ask HR Block if they have a DCN for your return (that stands for Declaration Control Number) and ask them to please confirm that the return was accepted by the IRS. If they do, then rest assured that they are not the ones with a problem. They may not give you the number, but if they are telling you that they have it, I would trust them.

Step 2: Assuming H&R Block has said you have a DCN and it was accepted, you have to continue dealing with the IRS.

www.irs.gov, individual, "where's my refund?". You need your projected refund, filing status and social security number.

Whenever the IRS 'accepts' your tax return, this means they have received it filed completely with info such as name and social, dates of birth are correct. This is all it means.

If filing status, dependents claimed or dropped, charges to a tax firm from prior years can all cause delays in your tax return.

good luck & bless

Welcome to the wonderful world of the IRS...I had to deal with them a few years back and they are the most unorganized ridiculous bunch......grrrrrrrr...makes me mad just thinking about it.......call them back...demand to speak to a supervisor, document every word said, tell them you would like to record the conversation....that usually gets their attention....just keep good records and if it comes down to it, you may have to get an attorney......sorry......I feel your pain, they are impossible...
