Blood pressure increases, risk of heart attack etc. Also risk of anxiety. I dont have those but have had stress for over 25 years and have ulcers in my stomcak, oesaphagus and duodenum. I don't smoke or drink and doctors say it is down to stress only.

You've probably heard of fight or flight, a leftover from our hunter days when we needed to be able to run away. Stress causes the adrenals to release adrenalin, which pumps us up so we can fight or run away quickly. That physical activity uses up the adrenalin, everything goes back to normal and life continues.
But nowadays we rarely have the physical activity to use up the adrenalin, so it circulates through the body. That causes one set of problems.
The other set of problems is caused by the adrenal glands working too hard. Caffeine is terrible for them; supposedly each cup of coffee is biochemically the equivalent of a high stress argument. Add in all of the toxins that we bathe ourselves in and our bodies are under siege continuously. They're not designed to function that way. It takes its toll on every one, regardless of whether it's apparent now or later.
If you want to know more specifics, try a search engine. This is a well-researched and documented question.

Some stress is normal in everyday life. Excessive stress, however, can raise your blood pressure, increase your heartbeat, contribute to anxiety disorders, contribute to depression, and actually make some people "break down" mentally.
People who work in, or take classes in, extremely stressful situations should really look to make a change in their job/class. It is unhealthy for excess stress to occur every day. This is also true for people who live in extremely stressful households.
These people should, additionally:
-Learn meditation (to clear their thoughts)
-Be sure to walk/run/jog every day (to release some of the stress)
-Get plenty of fresh air, and eat properly (really helps)
-Start drink Chamomile Tea (relaxing)
-Use lavender aromatherapy (candles, incense, soaps, shampoos, body sprays, etc.--of course, not all at once). Lavender is also very relaxing, and may even help with sleep at night.
Of course, see your doctor if you are feeling ill, mentally or physically--as over-stressed people can suffer both types of illnesses.
Be well :)

actually it does not have to be. Some stress is good i.e. eustress rather than distress. years ago i set a class an essay entitled
'Stress is self induced . Discuss'.
they all wrote really good essays but one girl in particular compared different models of stress, brought in factors that mediate stress and coping strategies and finidhed with eh immortal words
'it's all in the way you see it'.
In other words it has nothing to do with what is going on in your life it is all about the way you perceive it and handle it. If you perceive challnges and look for solutions not problems you will not feel 'stressed'.

Stress can strain every organ of the body. It might be compared to revving a cars engine for hours at a time.....puts a strain on the system. Your body over-produces adrenalin and it just wears you out.

It can make your blood pressure super high and it can also make your heart rate go really high. Your heart isn't used to such an intense strain you put on it.
I hope this answers your question

Toxins released when you get stressed narrow your arteries annd other blood vessels and therefore you get higher blood pressure and thag increased your risk of a heart attack or stroke.
