I can't blame you for not having serious religious conversations with them. My sister is a creationist and I can't talk to her about religion without wanting to beat her head into a wall.
My family never talks about religion as we all have different beliefs, and we fight enough as it is why throw more fuel into it.
Although my sister loves to tell us all how we're going to burn in hell cause we're living in sin.....while she's holding her son that she had out of wedlock.
So getting into a conversation with that type of person is just frustrating and a waste of time.

Don't blame you but don't care either. I have conversations with people all time and never bring up the subject of religion. Although, I am a Christian, the subject of Adam and Eve seldom, if ever, comes up even if I know I am talking to a Christian.
Pretty shallow person, aren't you?

Does that go for genetic Adam and Eve? If so, then are you the same Jim Darwin that sent me an invitation to being Friends? (Sorry I didn't see it until after it expired.)
I'm not sure how you can logically rule the possibility out. It's not like they had videotape back then!

I think only a foolish and closed-minded person will refuse to talk about ANY subject with a person who believes in the Bible. Why not just make it clear you don't wish to talk about the Bible or religion?
Let me get this straight: if you have a heart attack today and go the hospital, will you ask your doctor whether s/he is a Christian before you speak to him/her?
If you're pulled over by a police officer for speeding this afternoon (you're rushing home to use shampoo, or whatnot), will you refuse to speak because you see a cross hanging from the officer's neck?
I wonder whether you truly thought this question out before you posed it.

Yes and no. I like arguing with creationists, but I see the problems involved. It depends upon the alcohol / thc ratio in my bloodstream, and what kind of mood I'm in.
edit- Anyone dodging one of these pointless and embarrassing situations in person has more balls than I ever will- once they start, they don't let up until you really piss them off- then they just say "I don't want to talk about it!"

I don't necessarily think it's a character flaw, Jim, but it is a little disappointing. I have learned so much from discussions with people that had differing viewpoints - sometimes those conversations reaffirmed my original ideas, and other times I have been shown a different, and possibly more viable, perspective.
Whether you agree with someone's opinions or not, you can always learn something from them.

You are still violating the Golden Rule.
And the rul is found in some form in every philosophy and religion (except the real bastards like nihilism and machiavellian crap)
and you are being a discompassionate jerk.
You give them every reason to go run right back into their world, if you are a jerk.

You are not a child, so it is not up to others to blame or be disappointed in your character. Life is not antagonism toward authority figures past teen years if all has gone well. You can make your own choices and live with them.

Frankly, yeah, I am disappointed. So internet friends and real life friends are not the same thing?
So Sean, that means you're going to avoid ever meeting me in real life? I'm hurt! *pout*
I'm going to go shampoo my cat now.

I don't blame you. It's hard to talk on a personal level with those who are so vastly different. Unfortunately, I live in the bible belt so if I avoided anyone who believes in Adam and Eve, I'd be left to socialize with only my cat.
