Isn't this one of the Christian ways of characterizing humanity's relationship with God, that God created us to worship him?

Would you respect such a personality among your fellow human beings?

They were insane. And clearly they don't know anything about what its like to have teenagers because parents won't elicit anything but deep shame.

It always amazes me that in god is seen as above reproach, but if a human were to engage in it's sinful. Where is the disconnect?

I always love your questions NH.

Human parents are not God! They did not create all that exists, nor do they have Sovereign Authority and Power. They are not sinless, above reproach, or omnipotent.

There are many loving parents. However, many are also molesters, abusers, critical, judgmental, and capable of many things the Lord would never do to his Children.

Yet you attempt to compare human parents to God??

The scriptures tell us that when parents, siblings, relatives, and friends desert you...God is still there. There is no comparison!

There is one similarity! Many Human Parents, not all, "choose" to have children, because they want to be loved and give love. Which is exactly why God made each and everyone of us.

Be thankful, the Lord does not have the imperfection and limited insight of many human parents. To compare God with any human, even if they are the most loving parent(by human standards), is arrogant and reveals lack of understanding about who God truly is. God Bless, Miji

Who's more pitiful, the children or God!
If God where human, his children would have been safely removed from his type of care long ago!

That's an interesting observation. And, it's not too far from the truth: in the 1800s, having children was "profitable" and people had kids as a long-term investment in cheap labor.

As a parent - I'd say such parents were deranged.

I don't expect my children to worship me, but I do expect them to obey me and hopefully take care of me when I'm old and decrepit. I don't want to be sent to one of those "old folks homes". I do not wish to take God's place...I humbly acknowledge his role as creator and therefor love, respect, and obey him - which includes worship of him. Would I respect a human that demanded worship to himself? no. I admit I wouldn't. But it's not the same to me. God is the almighty creator of everything, not just us, but our surroundings, all the animals, etc. I guess to me he deserves our worship, as my mother and father deserve my respect and love. I guess I don't see it as God demanding anything from us - he desires all to come to know him - and out of our love for him we worship him.

I would see it as egotistical. We have the instinct to reproduce, to carry on our genes to another generation so that they too, can carry them on. So that's not something natural to do with the worshipping and all.
