I have always given my cats tap water to drink. Is bottled water a better substitute?

As long as you live somewhere that has safe for humans to drink tap water, it is totally fine.

My cat is spoiled though, i made the mistake of giving him filtered water, and now he wont drink anything but. lol

I think it's just a matter of preference. We gave our cat bottled water. As long as you keep the dish clean and change the water frequently, it should be O.K to give your cat tap water. You could always ask someone at the pet store or a vet to see if there's a difference.

I have been giving my cat tap water for the past 7 months since we adopted her. I bought a new Brita water container on Friday, now I give her water from that. Man the filter works great. Doesn't taste like tap water now!!

I use a Brita water filter for my cooking, coffee water etc. and fill the cat's water bottles with that. I believe it would be less expensive to use that than to give bottled water - not so much because the cats drink a lot of water and because it needs to be fresh and I usually fill the bowls twice a day.

I read one book by a homeopathic veterinarian and there was a lot of discussion about food, etc. He stated that if you did nothing else for your pets that you NOT give them tap water to drink.

It would be a waste of money to buy bottled water for you cats. Tap water works just fine, as long as you keep there water dish/bowl clean.

Cats sometimes stick their nose up at tap water because they can smell the chemicals which we humans cannot. It wont harm your cat because it is definitely cleaner than other things they drink out of! Maybe your cat will enjoy bottled water though. But it shouldnt affect your cats health.

Tap water is just fine. You can give your cat spring water as well, but there is nothing wrong with tap water.

If your tap water in your area is safe enough for children to drink, it is safe enough for your cats. My two drink tap water and so do we humans. If you live in Asia or the Middle East, well, tap water is never quite safe to drink there, you know.
