There is no need for you to apologize for another person's actions. Every group harbors nice, mean, and in-between people and moments. It's just how it is. You personally didn't offend anyone, I'm sure.
I'm Pagan, and I was raised Evangelical Christian. I hope you stick around, because I'm learning more about Catholicism here thanks to people like you. But if you can't, I understand. The meanness here seems to come from all sides, to all sides. I say this a lot--people feel real brave behind that monitor and screen name sometimes.

Why apologize for something you had nothing to do with. You are no more accountable for what anyone else has done than you are for a made up person named "Adam". Catholicism is a dysfunctional family being told you are unworthy of this or that. The truth is you are likely a very caring person and are worthy of what ever good comes your way.
