Why does it "SEEM" that people from New York, New Jersey, in that general area are VERY rude and short with people they talk to? I work at a call center and all of my callers from that area are horrible. Only a handful of them actually have manners. Not to piss anyone of, but is there a reason for this?

I am from NYC but live in the south now. Southerners are much more friendly, I should really say that people are friendly and polite everywhere in the US except in the north east, especially NY and NJ. They tend to have an "attitude" that they are superior because they live in NY. They believe they are more fashion, food, arts, and intellectually more savvy that the rest of us. When in all reality they have limited vision in the way they view the rest of the US. Why would anyone want to suffer and live there with all the pollution, over population, noise, and high cost??? When ever someone is rude to me, I feel sorry for them. They must live a very unhappy, unfulfilled life to be so angry and feel they must lash out at a stranger!

I think it is an east coast thing. I live there since birth, moved to the west and the difference in attitude is enormous.
