can anyone give me an estimate on how much they'll charge me?

I have w-2, several 1099-int, 1099-div and 1099-B for stocks and mutual funds sales.

It depends on where you live. I would suggest you call and get a quote. They can give you a rough estimate by a calculator they use.

You can look them up by zip code at the web address below

They will charge over $100 for a 1040 with a W-2. Anything else will be much more. They are very expensive.

I suggest getting Turbo Tax. You return sounds really simple. You can do this yourself.

However, even if they were FREE, I would never use H&R Block. I took their class to be in compliance witht he CA tax preparer rules so I know what I'm talking about.

We knew more than the teacher. We had to correct the teach numerous times so that he didn't give wrong info to the students. Numerous basic issues have "this is beyond the scope of this course" printed in the textbook.

They hire from these classes. Students have to have a minimum score on the class and final. In my area they were concerned that they were not getting enough people passes the class. THEY HIRED PEOPLE THAT FLUNKED THE FINAL.

I have also heard numerous horror stories from former Block clients. Things like advising clients to not correct major error from a prior tax return becasue the "IRS will never catch it."

Sorry but I would never send even an enemy to H&R Block.

In my, opinion too much! If you go on their site you can use their software for free (if you gross under a certain amount) or for a small fee, I paid $9.99. They walk you thru it step by step and you have plenty of chances to change or revise things before you send it in to the IRS. They even have an option of E-file or paper file. I loved this program and recommended it to all my friends. Good Luck!
