I haven't smoked pot in 16 months, but I took a hair folical drug test recently, and now I'm worried about passing. The hair sample that they took was approximently 8.5 inches long, and very close to the scalp. Will I pass?

they only use the first 1.5 " by the scalp and nothing beyond that, typically*** that is.
Your hair grows about 2-3" a year so you might be right on the cusp of the pass/fail line in which case they'll probably pass you since it was so long ago.
Still, all and all, my #1 piece of advice is NEVER SUBMIT FOR A TEST YOU DON'T KNOW YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY PASS. Many companies no only require a drug-screen but also request the resutls of ever previous employer's screens as well. One failed test can follow you for EVER...

Standard hair follicle screen covers a period of approximately 90 days, but is susceptible to time variation depending on the growth rate of your hair. The hair sample is cut as close to the scalp as possible and the most recent 3.9cm (or 1.5 inches) are tested. It is possible to go back even further than 90 days since the time period is limited only by the length of the hair sample, but is standardized to a 90 day history.

When you have a hair drug test it will generally show signs of previous drug use and or nicotine use. Your hair is constantly growning, if you haven't been smoking pot for 16 months than there will be 16 months of heathly hair growth and then, it will show that you did smoke 16 months ago. I don't know if they can pinpoint it to exactly 16 months, but they will be able to show that you haven't smoked for a while. Don't worry......

Your hair will come back positive, but they will be able to estimate a time frame based upon the location of the THC in your hair. Your hair is very similar to that of tree rings. The further away the positive portion from your scalp, the longer its been since use. I wouldn't worry too much about it because they will see that it has been over a year and if they ask, you have proof that you have been clean since. Just explain it to them if they ask. The test will probley come back positive.I have heard that it never gets out of the hair.I know it stays in the system for 30 days if you take the piss test.

It stays in urine 8-12 weeks. In hair, I do not have an exact answer, but I would hope for the best after that long.

a hair drug test will show any type of drug that you have used in your entire life...it will never go away it will always show up in your hair..that is why the FBI uses this type of drug test when hiring agents...sorry...you will not pass..if you dolet me know with any luck maybe it is a myth!
