My friend works at a medical facility, and the front picture window has a ledge over it, and the picture is by the entrance. Needless to say, the pigeons are a nuisance for the patients as the pigeons are coming and going, not to mention the bird poop.

Does anyone know of a humane way to make the pigeons roost elsewhere?

I'm a total pigeon enthusiast..I love the little birdies.

There's only *1* sure way to keep pigeons away and that is netting. It needs to be professionally installed and they won't be a bother anymore.

Plastic owls are laughable, pigeons like to use them as perches.

Needles- most surfaces don't have full coverage and they will just walk around them, also, pigeons have been known to land on them anyway..

Poison - :( And it takes so long to work that you'll have dying birds flapping around in front of traumatized children, also, if a poisoned bird gets eaten.........you get the point..

The gels too are unsafe as they can spread around.

So! Get netting! It'll do the trick but make sure to shop around!

Good luck!

This is what many of the churches do in our area. They put these spike chains on all the surfaces the pigeons like to roost. It doesn't hurt the birds, it just prevents them from landing. If they roost on your WHOLE roof, I don't think these will help, but if you have a deep pitch to your roof, these will probably help.

They say that if you put a fake owl on the ground near the area birds will not go around that area. Maybe you could find a decorative one at a landscape shop or something. should work though. Plus you want hurt them one bit.
