I think it's up to the owners discretion, if your cat gets violent with catnip then they shouldn't use it.

I don't think that catnip should be banned. It's the owner's responsibility to decide if catnip is right for their cats, because each cat acts differently when "high" off catnip. If a cat is hurting itself, it's owner, or other cats then it should not be allowed to have catnip.

Nope. Cats "high" from catnip (and I think its about 50/50 for who's effected by it, a lot of cats don't care about it) they can't get "high" again for a few hours later or so. Also, over time they can become desensitized to it, so it just doesn't work on 'em anymore, that's why it should be kept as a treat and not overused, not because it hurts them, but because it just won't work as well.

I've had cats all my life and none of them would go anywhere near catnip.
In fact one of the started sneezing and coughing when she got anywhere near it.
If an owner wants to give it to their cats, that should be left up to them...the Government has better things to worry about than banning catnip!!!

My cat gets very verbal when she wants some catnip. I put a good size pinch on the floor. She eats part of it and then rolls in what's felt. According to my vet, it aids digestion.

My bunnies get crazy over catnip. But unlike people, I haven't seen many cats or bunnies driving around killing people from snorting some catnip. Key word "many". Hyped-up bunnies and cats usually don't beat people or cheat on their spouses, or drive a 3,000 lb vehicle while intoxicated.

It is a truly entertaining sight, not to mention very pleasurable for them. We had 6 cats, and when we busted out the "nip", they all came a runnin! What was the absolute best was, each one of them had their own unique reaction to it. One of them would lay on her back, and swat at ghosts, 2 of them would turn our living room into wrestle-mania, one would sit back with his eyes half closed and just absorb it all it, another would hide behind objects and jump out at everybody, as if saying "BOO!" and then run back behind the object, and the last one would lay on the floor, facing the ceiling and sing. And an hour later when they all came down, they would just be laying an the ground like hippies coming off a trip. Now why would you want to take all of this away from us cat owners?

~Cats are getting drunk from catnip? LMAO!!! Our cat has never hurt us after drooling over catnip, he usually takes a nap.
Who are you, the government? Take away anything and everything that makes a body feel good. You make it sound like a rape drug or something.
You're hilarious!!!~
