I am getting over the flu and a sinus infection and my dr. gave me these antiboitics. The first one I took upset my stomach to the point that I had to throw it up, but I am not sure if it was a result of my weak stomach from the flu. I took my 2nd dose today and about 3 hours so far and I feel fine. My question is how long after taking pills if it hasn't upset your stomach it won't? Like if its past an hour, does that mean its working and settling good and nothing to worry about? Thanks

It takes a few hours for the pills to be absorbed by your digestive system. if its been 3 hours you're probably fine. A lot of antibiotics mke me sick that way also.

If you've gone 3 hours, I'd say you're safe. You should check your packaging...some say to take with bread or milk to avoid nausea and/or vomiting.

As a general rule as well, if you DO happen to vomit after you've taken your meds, you'll still get benefit from the drug as long as its 3-4 hours after you took the pill.

Good luck and get better!

Antibiotic drugs are notorious for causing GI upsets, including nausea & vomiting. You can take them a "light" snack, tea & crackers etc.Whatever you find that works for you will be fine. Remember to take "all" the medication so you won't have a relapse.Take care. SW RNP

If it was going to bother you , it would have within the first half hour. You should be fine. Take the medicine with some food or milk. it will help coat the stomach , so it won't be so harsh on your stomach. Good luck to you and I hope you are feeling better

I would say about an hr. Normally if the antibiotic is too strong it can make you sick too. The good thing is, once it is in your body for about 15min. it has already started working to where you would not need to repeat the dose. If it continues I would definately talk to your dr.:)

Sometimes antibiotics do upset your stomach, but if you are tolerating them after 3 hours I would say they are being absorbed now, so don't worry.

"The emptying of solids for people with hypoglycemia takes 26.8 minutes, versus 43.1 minutes for those with normal glycemic levels."

After about an hour I would think you're in the clear.
