I currently take 300mgs of oxycontin for chronic pain relief and I'm looking for an alternative? Anyone having good or bad experiences please answer. Thanks very much.

I was put on them during my miscarriage when I couldn't keep down my Oxycontin. My experience... Oxycontin works WAY better with WAY fewer side effects. The Fentaly patches are very sensitive to temperature.... you can get too much of the medication just by wearing a coat and a sweater on a cold day or taking a hot bath because they release the medication based on heat. They made me even more nauseous than my pregnancy, I puked the entire time I was on them. They also sometimes don't stick well... mine kept peeling up and falling off. If you want an alternative to the Oxycontin, Methadone works well and is very cheap, but the patches really suck.

I tried the patches for chronic knee pain and could not use them. I got chemical burns on my skin everywhere I used the patch. They also made me very sick.

holy crap, dude, thats a lot of pain meds - if that isn't helping you should look at non-drug methods of pain relief - cognitive behavioral therapy, physical therapy, acupuncture - something
