If you go for a promotion at work and get it then you go home happy and say its "Gods will". If you don't have it you go home happy anyway and say "Its Gods will".

My point is life is how you want to see it. If you have a positive outlook like everythings going to "be good today" then the bad things won't seem bad.

your belief provides you with clarity that every thing will be ok no matter what happens - that's why everything goes smoothly for you because in your head you come to a logical reason not to be mad or angry at the every day events most people would get agitated with.

I believe God has a way that things should go, but I do not believe he forces his hand to cause things to go that way. If that were the case, we would have no free will. Also, if everything that happens is a part of God's will, then everything, in a sense, is meant to happen. That would mean every child that is abused was abused because God wanted it to. Every young woman that is raped is because God wanted it to. Every man that is harrased because of his skin color is because God wanted it that way. God is not a God of hate or violence. People have free will and sometimes people make the wrong choice it doesn't mean that God MADE it happen that way.

Christians used to believe in that concept more back in the 17C - the Puritans. It is called God's sovereignty in christianity. It may have been somewhat discredited due to the horrors of the 2 world wars. What I mean is that its hard to imagine all that hideous killing was God's will. However, accepting things may well often be better than striving to overcome difficulties, as some difficulties are very hard to fix.

If your prayers are doing you good, I guess you should keep doing them.

People have given up on God since the Reformation/The Renaissance - when they started to think for themselves and not listen to the diatribe of the church. Once people became educated and were able to use logical thought they realised that God was nothing more than an ideal and a means for church control.

I believe that everything happens according to our own will. We decided how our life was going to turn out before we came into this life. I suppose you can call that God's will if you want to. I don't believe that God will punish you by making your life more difficult if you don't pray 5 times a day though. However if you believe that, then you will unconsciously attract negative events into your life when you feel you haven't said all your prayers. If you expect bad things to happen, they will. God is all loving & forgiving, he doesn't watch to see who is praying or not & then play favourites.

All I can say is that you've had every day of your life go smoothly then you're very lucky with or without God in your life because at some point something terrible will happen because it does to all of us.

Well, I never thought that way in the first place! You just seem to be ducking your responsibilities. Get human! Get a life!

It's not a healthy outlook to have- it reduces us to unthinking automatons who are controlled by a divine power.

Sure, but that doesn't mean you just switch onto autopilot. God helps those who help themselves.
