From 6-9 hours depending on the airline/hub you use and the length of the stopover. Your best bet is to go southward thru Miami, Atlanta or Dallas. Some go thru Chicago or Washington DC but thats where the hours stack up.

When I flew out from CA to San Juan it took 8 hours with a straight flight ( no layovers or transfers ). We just went from San Juan to NC and it took 4 hours without layovers. If I had my guess, around 6 hours without layovers.

Around 8 hours not taking into account how long you have to wait at the airport for transfer of planes
