Just the way that it is.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Love and blessings

Probably not so different from how it is now. If you accept the fact that there is a satan, different from god, and we were created in the gods image, then the following may just be true...

1. the who reason satan is satan is because god has the power base. Satan is trying to gain the power that god has.
2. If satan is just trying to gain power, then he is not inherently evil, just different
3. once satan gains the power god has, then he becomes god, and god becomes satan (the weaker of the two, trying to regain power)
4. to quote Stan Lee "With great power comes great responsibility". The power satan gains will change him.

Really, can you see him doing any worse with our world than the current god?

To some degree, Satan is in charge of the Earth. God gave it to the fallen archangel to reside and rule. When he tempted Jesus he offered Jesus the whole world if Jesus would bow down and worship him. When Jesus rebuked him it was for the attempt to get Him to worship Satan. Jesus did not rebuke the claim Satan made to the temporary ownership of this world. That is why the world is so messed up. Since the dawn of man's history there has been war, rape, children being raped and murdered.
So, in many ways Satan is in ruler ship of this world for now. I hope for your sake that you don't end up on the wrong side when time is up.

God has permitted Satan to have his time of 'rule' over this earth. And what we have now is a result of his evil, and it is only going to get worse.
We are seeing and experiencing it this day, in the abuse, and murder of one another, the genocide, the pestilence and disease, the hopelessness so many people experience. These things are the things which the devil takes pleasure in, and it is these things he wants promoted.
It will be a better day when God casts Satan into the lake of fire, and all people are released from his oppressive rule.

It seems like Satan is in charge already with all the evil going around in the world today.

1 John 5:19-"but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one."
Satan is in charge right now. What you see is what it is.
In Matthew chapter 4 Satan was testing Jesus while he was here on earth. Satan said he would give Jesus all the kingdoms of the earth if Jesus would do one act of worship to him. Jesus wouldn't do it, but he didn't deny that the kingdoms of the earth were Satan's to give.

To a Jew (Jews invented the biblical God and Satan), the world would be the same as now, because Satan is an angel who does God's will, according to Judaism.

Christians later gave Satan a makeover when trying to terrorize the world with "believe or burn" threats.

Less teenage pregnancy, veneral disease, cervical cancer, abortion, aids transmission, pornography, drug addiction. All of these issues remain intractable because of reactionary religious elements in our society that treat every human problem as a personal spiritual defect for which the individual must suffer. I don't think there'd be any war since we couldn't use our competing concepts of god to justify our violence and conquest. And I'd assume you'd be accountable for your actions, unlike in Christianity where no matter how evil you've been you have a "Get Out of Hell Free Card" with Jesus.
