Equal parts of Dawn detergent and hydrogen peroxide will take out a red wine stain. Then wash as usual. As far as the accidental spill, good manners require you to ease the conscience of the clumsy person, even if you'd like to throttle him/her.

There is this awesome stuff called "Wine Away" that gets red wine stains out! You can find it at vineyard tasting rooms and wine shops. Just follow the directions.

From a stain-removal standpoint, immediately saturate the stain with COLD water;(& this goes for ANY stain on clothing ) just keep applying it until the spot is soaked through..then blot, blot and blot some more; the cold water keeps the stain from settling......

If it is still wet, rinse it out immediately. If, after washing, the stain remains, they should replace the item.

It was an accident. nothing to be done but try to remove the stain. i wouldn't be mad.
