Logically, the Rapture will occur during my lifetime, unless it's God's will to take me first.

Jesus told us in the "Olivet Discourse" that the generation that's alive when the events He spoke about BEGIN to occur will still be alive when He returns. Exegetically, we understand the first "event" Jesus refers to is the rebirth of Israel as one nation, as prophesied also at Ezekiel 36 and 37. Therefore, the general population of folks alive in May, 1948 will still be alive when He returns.

As for an exact date, it is not possible for us to know the day or the hour. Just be ready -- it should be VERY soon. (For a hint why, read Ezekiel 38 and 39, then look at your newspaper.)

EDIT: "Lori S," read 1 Cor. 15:50-55 & 1 Thes. 4:15-18. I also recommend you go to www.pre-trib.org to read about the Rapture. The word comes from the Latin Vulgate translation of the Bible, which uses the word "rapturo" where you read "caught up" at 1 Thes. 4:17.

SECOND EDIT: "Solafide," how can you say it's a false teaching when you also admit there are at least 10 more years to go (actually, there are 11). Read Psalm 90:10, which clarifies that a Biblical generation is 70 years. Also, there is a HUGE amount of Biblical support for the Rapture. In fact, anyone who disputes it clearly hasn't done adequate exegetical review of the various Scriptures involved. Likewise, Amillenalism is unsupported. I suggest you go to www.pre-trib.org.

*Sigh*

EVERY SINGLE GENERATION seems to think that it's going to be the last one. Every single generation has been proclaiming that "THE END IS NIGH!"

Get over yourselves.

First off, the Rapture is an idea that comes from mangling two--you read that right...TWO--Bible verses severely out of context. Second, Jesus died on the cross 2000 years ago and has been dead ever since. Third, the only place he exists now is in your little head.

Fourth: What kind of sick person looks forward to the destruction of the world as a GOOD thing? What kind of arrogant, selfish, sadistic jerk hopes that everyone in the world will die just so they can get their free ticket into an afterlife country club?

Jesus lives in me 100%... With out Jesus I would have been killed on December 5, 2003. My house was on fire in the basement and I didn't know. I heard popping noises so I open up my door and smoke hit my face. I went into my parents room and try to dial 911 but I dial 611 instead. I black out and next thing I know I was being pushed out of my parents room into my room, and out the window. While this was happening the lights were still on. Once I've gotten people out the house before the fire department arrive, that is when the lights turned off.
That is a short version of my story..
But without god and jesus, I would be dead... So they have a plan for me...

As Jesus said No one but the Father knows the day or the hour. And do not worry about tomorrow, today has trouble enough of its own. While Jesus does live in me 100%, He himself tells us that speculation over when the end of times is to come is a waste of time. If it happens it happens. If not then it is still not my business. Today has worries enough of its own

Suz,

What you teach if false.

Most in that generation are 60, they got 10 more years roughly, plus the majority is probably dead now anyways.

I will bet you any amount of your choosing that in 10 years we will all still be here.

There is no hidden rapture, the doctrine is read into the text, is not found in the early creeds or confessions, and is a more recent view on eschatology.

Read a Case for A Millennialism if you get a chance.

Suz,

I'm very familiar with all views on eschatology so no need to study up right now. What I would like to know is where in the Bible can you point to that shows a "secret" rapture for Christians only. Please provide at least 2 verses because it is not a good idea to build a doctrine on just one verse.

Just a casual reading of Corinthians and Thessalonians shows that these verses are clearly speaking of the 1 and only coming of Christ to judge the world, not a secret rapture.

Cor: at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."

Trumpets: Hmmm sounds like it's going to be real secret to me.

Also if that coming is the one that is victorious over death, then it has to be the (one) last, for if there is a secret rapture death will still happen on the Earth.

Thess:For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God

Again lots of noise and trumpets sounds like this (one) last coming, definitely not secretive.

So far all I see is bad theology and bad exegesis.

LAST EDIT:

People wonder why there is so much disgust of Christianity today. It is because Christians are so quick to judge but can never back up their arguments. Suz you claimed my view is false, I shot yours down, so far I have yet to see verses that refer to 2 raptures, one being a secret rapture of Christians only.

Since you made the claim you better back it up, unless your comfortable with bearing false witness against myself and God's word.

If that makes you uncomfortable please email me.

What's a rapture? Never heard of it. Never read it in the bible. Jesus doesn't use the term. God doesn't use the term. Is this something you just made up? How can an event that is made up cause so much emotion and expectation?

I try not to presume such things that are beyond my control, but if it does happen I am ready..... Bring it on! And no I don't believe in Jesus, because I don't believe in the hypocritical people who have passed on the "stories" about him to me. But I do however believe in God and that there was a person (some call Jesus) that was a tremendous positive influence on the people of his time and that those people glorified him to the point that through the passing on of stories he became the "Prince of Peace". So now I am (as are all of us) a vessel of spreading peace, love, understanding, and tolerance. So I guess in a way this mythical thing others call Jesus is in me but I don't believe him to be anything but a true do-gooder of sorts.
