You INSTALLED windows XP? or you UPGRADED to XP?

If you installed it, you blew away everything that was on your computer. it's toast. Gone. Unrecoverable. I know, I spent ages trying to recover stuff for a friend when they installed their OS and the format that is part of the XP install messes up almost everything on the disk drive.

If you did install XP then you will have to reinstall all your applications from CD again. It''s not in the memory any more.

If you upgraded XP then it should have carried the applications over with it... if it hasn't you may as well reinstall as the amount of registry hacking you will need to do to recover the working software is not minor.

Boot your computer up to the desktop, insert the Windows XP disc into your CD ROM drive. When the installation screen appears be sure to select the upgrade option (it should be the default install option) This will preserve your installed programs and computer settings. It is a good idea to back-up your files and documents before upgrading as a safety precaution, especially anything in your My Documents folder. Refer to the source link below for more info. Hope this helps!

You'll need to reinstall Office. If you perform a regular Windows XP reinstall, it will overwrite the files and settings which Office needs to be able to run.

You may have to reinstall the program to get it to come back up. You will may need the key and may even have to reregister it with MS if it does not recognize it as a reinstall.

If it does recognize it you should just proceed as normal repair/reinstall.

I would try to search in the system files to find winword.exe (for example) and see if you can execute it from there.

Let me know if that works for you.

It'll have been overwritten during your install. You'll need to reinstall it.
