Sitting in Church on the wooden pews reminded me of when I was young. Feeling nostalgic and wanting to lighten the mood I waited for the minister to ask everyone to bow their heads for a silent prayer, then I let one rip. God it was just like being in grade school again. The women all gasped and the men all snickered. Now my fiancée is mad and won’t speak to me. Even the minister was hunched over trying not to laugh.

You have hit upon the very difference in the genders right there. We grow older but never mature a fart joke is funny for a lifetime. Hit a nursing home some time. Some guy lets one rip and all the wheel chair bound war vets are hunkered over laughing between gasps of oxygen. First advice, apologize. Fall upon the sword and realize this isn't going to be the first or last time you do something stupid in her eyes. Women, in general, can be overly concerned with appearances and you did something that destroyed the appearance of you and her as the Norman Rockwell couple (although I still think there are probably a number of his paintings that are titled 'pull my finger' that never got published). Second advice, try to keep the fart jokes in more informal circumstances. If you two do end up settling down and have children (or have friends/family with young children) there is a good place to re-visit your grade school years. Third and finally, the silent treatment is one of the most immature of the 'punishments' some women choose to inflict. So don't worry you aren't the only one inclined to childish displays.
BTW, I'd have chortling too.

from the description, it seems to me that you have negative feelings about religion becuz you commented on WANTING to lighten the mood, LET one rip and the euphoria of feeling like a kid again...probably the pratical joker of the class.
She is justifiably upset with you, i think. It was a blatent disrepect towards something that is obviously important to her. regardless of how the others reacted to what you did, you chose to embarres her without regard to the fact that she brought you with her to introduce you to a component of her life that was of signifigance to her. you did not mention, but i assume you apologized to her. and with that apology must come time. time to contemplate on the truth that you dishonered her, but hopefully forgiveness if she can trust you to not deliberatly embarress her publically again. an accident is one thing, but i think this was deliberate of you, so stay in the doghouse for awhile and consistanly make it up to her it if you really want her!
not all things that you think are funny are to everyone else. just because the minister found the situation humorous doesnt give you are carte' blanche card to assume she should not be so laid back-farting is not always the best remedy to humdrum scenrios.
be old enough and mature enough to realize that in the future. or seek a female who has a similar type of humor as yourself. after all, if you reacted that way from being bored at church i would wonder how you would react at a company fuction or at a wedding?

I hope it was a nice rotten egg smelly one! Well, you lightened the mood alright! You know, if she was so mad about it then that would've given her a good reason to get up and go to the alter and repent for not having a sense of humor wouldn't it?

As a woman sometimes I don't understand the other women....but look. In my opinion it wasn't that serious. Actually it sounds funny. You don't need to apologise for a lifetime for doing this mistake. I think her reaction wasn't logical. I don't get it. We all make mistakes. Tell her that she isn't perfect and don't let her make you feel that bad. She might is too nervous or I don't know! If she always reacts like that my God good luck!!!

Honestly I'm the type of girl who doesnt like being serious but I know when to be. I think this is one of those times when you should have been serious and she was probaly embarassed. Just apologize to her.

if my boyfriend would've have done that i probably would have been with the rest of the guys laughing. i think it is hilarious. but i'm sure she thinks different of it. i was just say sorry tell her it slipped. she cant be mad at you forever for that. and if she is i'm sorry. but kuddos to you cause that is very funny stuff.
