Does your childs school not have a no bullying policy? I would not do anything to your daughter just because some other parents raised their kids to be a$%holes.
Go to your daughters teacher and discuss this issue with her/him.
I also go with Missas' respond.
You shouldn't have to alter your childs appearance. She will then think that is what she needs to do the rest of her life.Im sure she is a beautiful girl and she just needs to know that the hair on her legs is natural and when she is older she can shave.
My daughter has had her pubic hair for about 3 years now and she is only 10.So can you imagine what her legs look like?I wont let her shave until grade 6.Even though she is so self concious about her legs infront of classmates.I just tell her it is apart of growing up.
It you want a book to read to her about body changes just for girls you can buy a book called "Growing Up,It's a Girl Thing" By Mavis Jukes.

Thats a shame that those kids would make her feel that way at such a young age. My daughter too has dark hair on her legs and she is 5 and will soon start kindergarde. I had black hair on my legs and I started shaving about age 10. I think she is a bit young to shave her legs. She is who she is and she is a child let her be that way for a bit. She needs to learn to like herself. If you change her now she will think she has to change her appearance just because of others. Dont make the mistake of that. I was always too concerned as to what others thought and finally now at age 27 I am learning to deal with it and have been in counceling for years.

Tell her to not make it bother and kids will eventually stop. If not tell the teachers or principal to give those kids a talk . Ignoring is one the smartest things to do. My Dad told me if someone talks crap then do nothing inless they say something about you're family or they hit you, I let a few guys have it back in my high school days and never got bullied psysically , as for name calling well I think many kids do it, i said bad stuff to other kids when I was young and it wasn't right .

Shaving may make the hair grow faster. I have a 3 year old with hairy legs. It may be precocious puberty, and you may need to get a doctor involved. Our kids are exposed to so many hormones, thier little bodies are developing like crazy. Call the doctor, because there may be other things that are happening with your baby also. Nair or a lotion depilitory may be a better hair removal choice. Good luck!

Oh that is so hard. My heart goes out to you. Still... I am in huge favor of finding her a way to deflect the teasing. Any attempt from your side to change her will be sending her the wrong message, I'm afraid. You may want to think about raising her self-esteem by getting her involved in sports. She will in time grow to love her body and see it for her strengths. If the teasing of the other kids gets to be too much and interfere with her schoolwork, by all means bring it up with her teacher. Now may be a good time for a few of those "everyone is different" lectures for the others. Best of luck.

She's 6, leave her alone. I was picked on for a minor cosmetic defect with an ear for YEARS. Finally, my parents had it corrected when I was 12. That left a big scar on the back of my ear for a long time. So, in 8th grade, every kid who sat behind me made fun of that instead.
Kids are morons; tell her to tell them that light hair on your legs means you have snake blood in you. Make something up so that she can deliver the message quickly and make the other kid question their normalcy.
Please don't make her change because of other people.

It makes me sad to know kids that small even make fun....my soon to be 6 yr old daughter has a small complex about her ears and asked me one day when she is going to turn into an elf'..and she was serious LOL i love her ears she looks like a little fairy to me. anyways...don't use a razor...
if it really is bothering her so much maybe use that veet stuff that doesnt require a razor.
I'm sure you have probably tried to tell her how shes fine the way she is and not to let people bring her down, keep trying that too. Best Wishes =)

what about using that Nair hair removing cream?
I'm sorry to hear your daughter is having a hard time at school. Sadly, kids can be really cruel.

Remove the hair. There is no reason not to. Use the hair removal cream. Be careful some of it can burn. Look for very gentle or for sensitive skin. Maybe ask your doctor also.
