Yes. As of Dec 31 2007, you need a passport to enter the States.

But if you were driving down to Florida, no you don't, not until Dec 31 2008.

But I think very young children are being allowed to fly without passports - the States relaxed on the rules for them, but not for adults.

As a Canadian, at the present moment, you DO need a passport to fly across US borders. However, at this time, for a few more months, you can DRIVE across the border without a passport. It's most important for you to figure out the current laws, but you CANNOT fly to florida without a passport.

That is the law in the US since January 1, 2007! You will need a passport to drive into the US very shortly! Best to contact the State Departments both in Canada and the US!
Sandra K thinks it's stupid??? Does she think 3000 people losing their lives as a result of Canada's laxed laws regarding terrorist is "stupid"?

Yes, you will. A new law regarding passports went into effect just a few months ago. You would still be permitted to travel by land without a passport, but all air travelers must show a passport.

Yes.

New laws have been passed, I think this year, that require passports to and from Canada, South America and North America.

As of right now, yes. If you come into or out of the US to a foriegn country you need a passport. I just went on a cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale to the eastern carribean and before we boarded there was a passport check. But to be absolutely sure just check with your airline.

Yes you will need a passport.
And someone said they're a little lax in rules for children... that's not so.
The rules are enforced just as much with children unless the child is under 6 months old, they require a passport as well.
