I think your parents are going to find out regardless, but this should not stop you from asking for help.
Please, please get help.

ABSOLUTELY!!
Now, please, understand this, your parents SHOULD be involved. That is my personal opinion of course, and I had to state it. However, if you truely DON'T want them to know (at least for now), you do need to go to someone of authority in your life (principle at school, guidance counselor, a trusted friend's parent). Tell them that they must keep this private!!
Depression is mind-boggling in it's way of taking over a life. It also can't be solved by any quick fixes. Just the fact that you are willing to ask for help means that you have recognized the problem, and want to change, and I applaud you for that (that is the hardest part of any treatment). Sometimes just talking about it in the open helps, but if it's true depression, many times medication must be used to even the balance of brain chemicals. If that is needed, you will probably have to get your parents involved, but you can do that on your terms, not theirs.
Talk to someone, anyone, sweetie. I denied my depression for years........until the day that I actually attempted suicide. That was my wake up call, and I'm doing better now with counseling and medication. I was one of the lucky ones......I survived!! I see now that nothing was worth the loss of my life, but at the time, everything was so dark.....
If you want an impartial ear without fear of consequences, contact me at ndars1@yahoo.com. I'll be happy to talk anytime!!!

The biggest mistake would be not to let the parents know about the situation. I mean, can you think of one single person that will love you more and worry about you more than a parent? Any shrink or therappist you go to for solving this problem will advise you that he/she has to talk to your parents about it, as it would be indicative of a very serious matter. So, my advice would be for the person to level with the parents, let them know what's happening, and take it from there with their help. The only exception for this would be if the parents are precisely the cause for this depression, in which case it would be recommendable to talk with the school counselor or to a minister or priest. Now, these problems require the person to act as soon as possible in order to avoid getting physically or spiritually hurt.

You know if you're depressed and contemplating suicide then I think you need your parents now more than ever.
You could probably set the process in motion by talking to a guidance councilor are your school. If your parents are part of the issue tell the guidance councilor all about it. If you feel this way it's not a time to shut your parents out. If anything open up to them and they will help you that's their job.

Certainly. If that person feels that way, then they do need to get help. It would probably be smart to involve your parents, so that they know whats going on with you. But if the person doesn't want to, then they should go to someone they can trust, and adult they trust, and confide in them. A guidance councelor would be a good help, depending on how you approach it. The person could also call numerous amounts of "help lines", or whatever you want to call them. That way, your identity is more concealed and they won't tell the parents.

Kids help phone 1-800-668-6868. Your family doctor would also be a good person to talk to or a school counselor. Just remember there are people out there like family and friends that care about you and would want to know and help if you're feeling this way. Sometimes just talking to someone helps. Good luck.

Obtaining help outside of the home, and before giving out any information asking if the information you give will be given to your parents without your consent; if the answer is yes then don't proceed and look for another means to get help.
Good luck, hope every thing works out in your favor

please talk to a counselor at school & explain to them why you do not want your parents involved, maybe they can get you some help. or check in you local telephone directory under counceling services, there may be a communtiy outreach program. i am not going to preach because i know everyone is different, but as a parent i would like to think my kids could share something like this with me. please realize what ever is wrong in your life right now isn't going to be this bad for long. time changes things, life has ups & downs your just in a down right now. good luck to you.

No, not real help, parents consent must be obtained. If you are suffering from depression why would you not want your parents to know? If they love you they would want to know that is what they are for to help you. I wish you the best!!!

Yes---you can speak to your school counselor OR....
in my area we have a 24 hour "Crisis Line", it's actually listed in the phone book as "CrisisLine" and you can speak to them anonymously, they are an enormous help to those in need.
Good luck, sweetie...no matter how bad you think life is, just turn on Jerry Springer and watch those losers--you'll feel much better.

No you need your parents as you are a minor. Just as to be taken to the docs as you are not feeling well and then tell the doc everything and he can take it from there. You do not have to have your parents in the exam room with you.
