Hey, I am Eighteen and want to be taught the art of film making at the New York Film Academy. The fee is $65,000 plus accomodation, food etc. I cannot afford this but as I live in England getting a visa to work in America is impossible as I do not offer skilled labour. So this is my plan to get a Business degree at Leicester, Chester University (United Kingdom) then try and find work in NYC once I graduate with my debt for student fees. Will it be easy to find work in NYC with a business degree and how do I go about it? Then as my student loan is only repayable if and when I earn over £15,000 a year and the repayments are minimal I earn enough working in New York City after about 5 years to pay to go to the New York Film Academy( Spielberg's son, Pierce Brosnan son, etc have attended various courses). Of course this is a lenghty process and I will being writing screenplays throughout. Is this a good plan and how can I make it work? Help me out I have put a lot of thought into it

I live in Los Angeles and am familiar with the academy. this is my advice. the practical part of me says get the degree, preferable without loans and then, get a good job in new yourk and take the classes at the film academy.

the dreamer in me says get a visa, go to new york, find a job either driving a cab, working in a store, trudging packages around, anything to make money and take classes at the academy. give it a good ten years to see if you career takes off and then go back for the business degree.

in La, there are millions of classes to take on the side for working professionals, the New York Film Academy isn't the only game in town. many people work and take a film class on tuesday and thursday nights at UCLA or the LA Film academy. try to do this without incurring a million dollars ( or punds in your case) of debt.

It depends. It took me a couple of months after college to get that first job. First look into getting the visa.
