Girl, he's only gonna stop smoking it when HE wants to and not a minute, hour, day before. He's probably become so reliant on it now that it's become a part of his daily routine much like one of my exes.
If he knows you don't like it and he's aware of the health implications associated with smoking weed and he still has no intention of quitting, than maybe you could suggest he cuts down his useage first?
Failing that, leave. Why tolerate someone's habit if it upsets you?

I've been doing that for about 5 years too... I just stopped plain and simple, it's all mental to me. After the first two weeks you being to be normal again. Talk to him, honestly, if you want to keep him, if he doesn't change leave, him smoking can get you into a lot of trouble, as far as the law goes.

Tell him how you feel its affecting your relationship and if that doesn't matter to him then sling him your relationship must come first. My b/f only smokes it in the morning cos he does night shift and it helps him get to sleep in the daylight, but he never smokes it in front of me cos he has got to much respect for me and i appreciate that maybe you copuld compromise and he could do that for you.

sit down with him and talk to him. Tell him how you feel and if there is any reason to stop it should be for you. Say "Baby I love you but smoking this weed is driving you crazy and if you can't stop for yourself stop for me" It'll make him think about his choses in life.

It sounds like he is a bit immature, since his friends so easily sway him.
You might want to tell him that if listening to his friends is more important than compromising with you, you will not be able to stay in the relationship. That might be enough to wake him up.
Take care,
Troy

My now husband did the same. I tried reverse psychology and said stuff like "I bet you can't give it up", his reply to that was "Bet you couldn't give up chocolate"
So we both decided to give them up to see who could last the longest. Anyway it worked he very rarely smokes weed (I still eat chocolate thou;-)

I guess he will only stop when HE wants to stop.
I would tell him you want a break, and leave him alone for a couple of days.....give him the ultimatium if you have to.....
