My friend just asked me on aim, he is on track, and he is wondering if it would make him run faster. Would it make a difference?

If he is trying to break a record by a fraction of a second in an international level I would say maybe, although it's trully far stretched. But if he just wishes to run much faster and be competitive It will not make much difference.
Swimmers swear by it and cyclist adopted it. Who knows how much of it trully makes a difference.

The shaving of legs comes from people who have fallen, gotten a "cheery", and the scab that forms gets messy from the hair in the way. It's easier to shave the legs to prevent that problem. Also, runners sometime have to tape their ankles and the tape will tear the hair off - painful - if you dont shave. Typically, triathletes and bike riders usually do it since there's a chance they'll fall. Some runners (male) shave their chest to allow a better pick-up for their heart rate monitor.

unless he is sasquash hairy, no.
Being faster has nothing to do with hair or no hair on the legs in running, maybe in swimming. Being faster has to do with lots of fast twich muscle, proper technique, talent and effort of work. It's just a vanity thing with guys in track, shaved head, shaved legs, not speed.

It might shave a hair off their time LOL but in a competitive sport people will do anything to get an extra edge even if it only shaves a fraction of a second off.

no it wouldn't really make a difference...thats swimming. guys shave their legs for that so the water doesn't slow them down with the hair. shaving his legs for track won't make him run faster...but it might make some of the guys run away from him lol, just kidding...hope i helped <3 xox

Not enough to make any kind of substantial difference. AND, the other guys would call him a girly-man!

lol

Tell him to keep that leg hair! He doesn't need to be anymore aerodynamic than he already is. lol

I would say yes for the following reasons:
1. You lose weight believe it or not.
2. It is said that they do hold you back.
3. I am in high school and all the guys say it works that they have seen a difference

It really doesn't matter. It helps by like a tenth of a second per mile at most, and he can probably save more time by shaving his head, but even that really doesn't help...

it does work but not because of the wind resistance you cut away.. shaving your legs defines your muscles and makes you feel leaner.. a lot of distance runners do it just for the feeling it gives them .. it makes them feel faster and hence when you believe you're faster.. you are faster... distance running is pretty much mental
