I already swore in and singned my contract at MEPS, a week ago. I am scheduled to leave for basic training in June. But yesterday my recruiter called me saying that MEPS called him stating that when they did my background check, I have a warrant from 10 years ago, for some community service I did not finish from a Theft Under $300(stole a few cd's). My recruiter is saying they are doing everything possible to work this out.I am afraid that I will be discharged or kicked out. If this is the case..could I still be elegible to join the US Army??

NOPE, you have a warrant that means a Warrant for your ARREST. Until you sort it out with the state/county that issued it, no military branch will touch you.

It should be able to be worked out. Many people still join the military to get away from some legal problems, and many times the courts decide it is better if you got the dicipline, and aided your country. You should be fine. I went through something similar myself. I was in the military for 8 years. If they discharge you then you need to make good on your warrant, and then you can reapply after a certain amount of time. If one branch will not allow you in for something the other branches won't either. It is easier to settle it with the courts, and get their approval. That usually is very easy. Good luck I hoped this helped. I loved the military and really miss it. Thanks for your service if they accept you.

in case you at the instant are not cleared for the army the comparable is genuine for the army. they have the comparable advice on you at MEPS and your call is interior the equipment for all branches to not show you how to bypass everywhere until you sparkling issues up with the warrant. in case you do never sparkling it up, you would be discharged from the army and positioned on checklist so which you will on no account be waiting to enlist with any service for 7 years. Get your stuff jointly and fasten issues. additionally, i actually wish you probably did not substitute your exhibit screen call and which you at the instant are not the comparable individual who has been asking those comparable questions for weeks now. the final be conscious is get your stuff cleared up or you will on no account be transforming into a member of the protection tension in any respect.

Nope. Odds are you're going to get a waiver, because the military's so desperate. However, if you are nixed for fraudulent enlistment (lying or omitting things on your contract and paperwork) then you're going to have a tough time getting in any branch of service. It just ain't going to happen.

Sorry.

But on the bright side, you're probably going to get a waiver. You should have gone Army first. I don't even think they really do background checks. One of our buddies has his Social wrong on his ID & tags and I guess he found out the Social he's got belongs to some dead guy. Go figure.

let's see you have asked this what, ten times now? the answer is the same.. you are ineligible to join ANY Branch of the military until all of your community service/punishments/fines are taken care of.

Guess you should have taken care of things ten years ago, huh? and people say your past doesn't follow you.. here's proof that it does.

oh, and BTW.. the recruiter cannot intrecede on your behalf. it is against regs for him to do so.

I have no idea about the Navy, but you could still (theoretically) join the Army. They give waivers all the time for police records and yours doesn't sound too serious. Good luck!

Since it is a Warrant....you have to fix it with the city that wants you...then talk with your recruiter

Usually they can fix, or work out those type of problems, and judges are also willing to do good when you are trying to better yourself, so wait and see, I'm sure you recruiter will work it out.
