It's not as bad as you might imagine. I had a wisdom tooth & a molar out at the same time + 2 root canals. i had a general so no pain during & it was fine afterwards - just eat on the other side for a few days.

Well, it all depends. If your tooth is impacted of if they just have to cut it out. Everyone takes pain differently. I know some people that were able to eat regular food the next day and some people can't. Everyone is different though. As far as it being worth it. Oh yes..lol.. if you don't get your wisdom teeth out, then when it starts to come in, it can grow side ways instead of up and down and it will push your teeth together and make them crooked and you don't want that. You'll be fine.. if you are in pain they give you some pain medicine... good luck!

It's something you have to do.The pain can be annoying if you put it off, and you definitely don't want nerve damage or paralasis in your jaw. Your dentist should tell you everything, after an x-ray.

Im not gonna kid you, after the novacaine wore off, I was in tears because of the pain for about 4 hours, and I was 18 years old at the time. It was the only time I cried as an adult. But I had 2 deeply impacted teeth, so it was a more invasive surgery. Most people experience pain, I was one of the unfortunate ones because I waited an extra few years.

Of course, my surgery was over 10 years ago, so advances in medicine might make this procedure a little easier! good luck

It can vary alot.

I've had two out - the first time it got infected and I was in agony for about 2 weeks - had to keep going back to have it packed with clove stuff.

The second one was fine, a bit of pain that day but healed really well and caused no trouble.

If you smoke, make sure you don't for at least 2 weeks after having the tooth out - trust me it is not worth it getting infected - I've still got a huge hole in my gum where the infection killed all the gum off.

It is usually worth having it done when you are younger, as the tooth can break down with age, making it much harder to get out.

well not to scare you but i had three wisdom teeth pulled and i woke up when the third tooth was being extracted. it does hurt after for a couple of days but soft foods are what's best. also if you use the opposite side to chew it will be much easier for you. good luck!

Well it's definitely worth it if it means getting rid of the pain it initially caused. You may have problems eating for a couple of days after as well as brushing your teeth but that time goes by really quickly and befor you know it your mouth will be back to it's old self.

I had no trouble at all ,I was told lots of scary story's about having black eyes etc usually about people who chose to go into hospital and have it done under anaesthetic ,but my dentist took mine out without any trouble, The important thing is to use salt mouth washes after and it heals up in no time it is no trouble and well worth doing good luck

When I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled I talked to many people that had theirs removed and they all had a different experience with pain and swelling. If you take your pain medication, antibiotics, steroids and follow your dentists instructions; you should have minimal pain and swelling.
It's not as bad as some people make it out to be. Good Luck and enjoy eating J-E-L-L-O!!

If the dentist says it should come out then get it done. The pain of getting it removed will be nothing compared to the pain caused by keeping it. They can be susceptible to abscesses if they have gone bad and that is something you want.
